Who this is about
This policy covers App in a Day, a one-day build workshop run by Precise Impact Ltd, registered in England and Wales at 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, company number 15244656. Where this page says "we" or "us", it means that company.
This is a standalone privacy notice for App in a Day, not a section of Precise Impact's main privacy policy.
What we collect, and why
What is collected depends on what you do on the site.
- Sending us your idea (the "Send us your idea" form): your first and last name, your email address, your mobile number and what you typed about your idea. We use this to reply to you personally, on the basis that replying is a step you asked for before deciding whether to book (legitimate interests: everybody who sends us an idea or joins a waitlist for App in a Day is a business owner looking to do something with their business, so replying is a reasonable and expected part of that).
- Booking a place: your name, email address, mobile number and business name, and your VAT number if you give one, collected by our payment provider, Stripe, and passed to us so your booking and VAT receipt are correct. This is necessary to perform the contract of selling you a place.
- The Build Brief, completed after booking: your first and last name, email address and mobile number, your business description, turnover band, team size, and what you are hoping to build and achieve. This helps us prepare for the day, on the same contractual basis as the booking.
- Trying a demo and asking for the results by email (each of the six examples): your first and last name, email address and mobile number, and the choices you made in the demo, so we can send you the results.
- Joining the waitlist: your first and last name, email address and mobile number, so we can tell you when a date opens, on the same basis as replying to an idea.
- Using the site generally: which pages you visit, which buttons you click, and campaign parameters from the link you arrived on (see "Cookies and similar storage" below), together with a shortened version of your browser's user agent string. This helps us understand which pages and campaigns are working.
Your mobile number
We use your mobile number to call or text you about what you have asked us for: your enquiry, your booking and your ticket. That includes calling you to talk through whether App in a Day is right for you and your business, and texting you about your booking and the day itself. We do this on the same basis as the rest of what you give us: legitimate interests for an enquiry, and the contract for a booking.
We do not use your mobile number for marketing calls or texts unless you have separately given us permission to.
We never invent or infer anything beyond what you tell us. If you give no VAT number, none is recorded; if a form field is left blank, it stays blank.
Where it goes
Everything above is stored in our own database, hosted on Railway, in the European Union. From there:
- AutomagicalCRM holds your contact record, so we can follow up with you about App in a Day. When you send us a form or book, that record also keeps how you reached us: the campaign parameters in the link you arrived on (such as
utm_source), any advertising click identifier Google, Meta or Microsoft added to that link, the first page you landed on and the website that referred you. We keep these so we know which campaign brought you to us. - Stripe processes your payment, holds your billing detail and emails you your VAT receipt. We do not see or store your card number.
- Umami counts visits to the site without cookies and without recording anything that identifies you personally.
- Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) receives technical details when something goes wrong on our servers: the kind of error, its message, where in our code it happened, the address of the page without anything after a question mark, and which version of the site was running. Names, email addresses, phone numbers, what you typed into a form, cookies and IP addresses are removed before anything is sent, and nothing from Sentry runs in your browser. Sentry holds this in the European Union, for 30 days. We use it, on the basis of our legitimate interest, to find and fix faults on the site.
- Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Microsoft Clarity and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel load only if you allow them in the cookie banner described below. Until you choose, none of them loads and nothing about your visit is sent to Google, Microsoft or Meta. Allowing Analytics loads Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity; allowing Advertising loads Google Ads and the Meta Pixel, which tells Meta you visited so we can measure and target our Facebook and Instagram advertising. Each sets its own cookies once allowed.
- AutomagicalCRM's tracking script loads only if you allow Analytics or Advertising in the cookie banner, and never on a page with one of our forms. It records which pages you view and sends that to AutomagicalCRM, which can connect those visits to your contact record if it already knows you, so our follow-up is relevant. It sets one cookie on this site, lasting about a day, which is cleared if you later turn both Analytics and Advertising off.
- Xero holds our accounting record of your booking.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone outside the services listed above except where the law requires it.
Cookies and similar storage
When you arrive on the site from a link carrying campaign parameters (for example ?utm_source=google), your browser remembers those parameters for the length of your visit, in its own local storage rather than a cookie. This is so that if you look at an example page and then send us your idea from a different page, we know which campaign brought you here. It is deleted when you close the tab, and it is never used to identify you personally across visits. It is kept only for your visit, only on this site, and only so we know which campaign brought you here, which we treat as strictly necessary to answer your enquiry.
After you book, your browser remembers the reference for your booking for the rest of that session, so the Build Brief can be linked to it without asking you to sign in.
If you use the admin area (staff only), a session cookie keeps you signed in.
A cookie banner lets you choose what else we use. One cookie, which remembers that choice, is set when you make it, so the banner does not ask you again. If you choose "Accept all", or turn on "Advertising" in preferences, the campaign parameters described above are also kept in a cookie of their own rather than only local storage, so they survive if you open a new tab; Google Ads' and Meta's own cookies are set on the same choice. If you choose "Analytics", or "Accept all", Google Analytics' and Microsoft Clarity's cookies are set too. Choosing "Reject all", or turning a category back off, clears the relevant cookies straight away. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of the page.
How long we keep it
We keep what you give us for as long as we are delivering the business service you asked for, and for communication relating to that service: replying to your idea, running your booking, preparing for and following up on the workshop. Booking and VAT records are kept for as long as UK tax law requires, which is normally six years.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- send you a copy of what we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete what we hold about you, where we are not required to keep it
- stop or restrict how we use it
- hand it to you, or another organisation, in a portable format
To ask, contact us at [email protected]. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if what we collect, or what we do with it, changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
